Flail
The Flail was a weapon a jointed weapon consisting of a spiked, flanged or knobbed steel bludgeon joined by a chain to a short wood or steel haft used in Medieval Times by Knights and Foot Soldiers. It was a highly effective offensive weapon but less effective as a defensive weapon. Like the axe it was effective when used against plate armor. The metal parts were forged out of iron or steel and the handles were made out of wood.
