Now my axe head was securely attached to the handle I started to think about how I would create the rest of the axe head that would go around the top of the handle and attach on to the axe blade. I thought I would try to wrap and solder a strip of sheet steel around to complete the axe with a full metal head so I used the big metal guillotine to cut an even strip of sheet steel and set about using a clamp to manually bend the strip into an oval shape. The only problem I faced with this was that I couldn't get the very ends to curl neatly or tightly around the handle so this idea was starting to seem hopeless.

Trying to get this to look right took a lot of time and in the end I had to face the fact that it wasn't really going to work effectively and I couldn't afford to waste anymore time trying to get it to work as I had other props to make.
