Next I tackled how I would attach the chain to my handle so I measured and used the sheet metal cutter to cut out a long rectangle which I filed after to remove sharp edges. This would be bent over the top of the handle to create a loop to hold a ring which would hold the chain with the spikey ball on the end.

I used the pillar drill in the metal workshop to drill three 3mm holes through the metal and wood. Oil was used when drilling the sheet metal.

My work colleague was kind enough to forge me a metal ring out of a steel bar so I could attach the chain to the handle. This was done by heating up an iron bar with a blow torch and then hitting round the curved spike of the anvil.

The ring and chain were slipped onto the curved sheet steel and nails were put through the holes. The ends were hammered down to keep everything in place. A slight problem happened with the nails being a bit too long and going a bit wonky which resulted in putting the holes off center a bit so some holes had to be re drilled
